How Argetina had 5 Presidents in less than 2 weeks in 2001


History: The time Argentina had 5 Presidents in 13 days

 




It did happen after the political crisis caused by the devaluation of the peso on November 2001 by then president Fernado de la Rua. It was a little more than a week and these were the 5 presidents, back in 2001


1) Fernando de la Rua, Argentina's president, resigned on December 20, 2001 after devaluing the peso and restricting withdrawals from banks.

2) As the vice-president had already resigned, the president of the Senate, Ramon Puerta, while Congress decided on the new president.

3) Congress decided to name Adolfo Rodriguez Saa as interim president.

4) He resigned on December 31, leaving the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Eduardo CamaƱo,
 as interim president.

5) On January 2nd, 2001, Eduardo Duhalde was named president by the Congress.
